Performance report - Summit fully-welded 3" mufflers

Again, apologies for this not being on a 3rd gen. But, someone might be considering them.

As previously reported, they are louder than I had hoped. But, tolerable, I suppose.

These things are always a little hard to compare when conditions aren't strictly controlled, but I do know the car wasn't tracking the weather station when I first ran it Friday - but, then again, it often doesn't. Two weeks previous, when the swiss-cheesed Summit turbos were starting to bust open the case, it ran a 13.37 @ 100 & change first run out in the morning, then slowed to 13.5's-13.6's @ 98+ during the day.

First run with the fully-weldeds in the late afternoon was a 13.54. Final run was a 13.500 on a red-light later in the evening. Next morning, first run out was a 13.507 with mid-13.5's when it warmed up. After a late-afternoon rainstorm, last run was a 13.44 with 60' about .02-.03 sec better than it has been this year. Highest MPH from the two days was 99.7, with typical in the high 97's to low 98's. Good news was with a new weather station database, it tracked both days.

So, I'd say between the loud sound and no better to perhaps slightly worse performance, I should look for some "real" performance mufflers in a year or two. For now, though, I suppose they'll do.

I would guess if I uncorked the exhaust at the collectors, it would slow down. Since I run in both open-exhaust-allowed and mufflers-required classes, it'll stay corked up for now.

Maybe an H-pipe would quiet it down a little.
