cutting off cat make me lose power?

cutting off cat make me lose power?

i got a question, its about one of my other cars, a 93 cavalier Z24, i know its not an f-body but i wanna know if i cut the cat out and replace it with a straight pipe, will i loose power from loss of backpressure or will i gain a little power?

have you ever seen the inside of one? They restrict like crazy and should free up alot of air flow when taken out

Might feel like you lost some low end, but you will gain in the higher rpms. Esp if it is a stock cat. Gettting a Hi-flow would yield the same results though.
