WHOA! Hooker p/n 2138...longtubes for stock location!

now, the only downside to these is that they are only 1.5" primaries and a 2.5" collector, but they could easily be used to run a dual system in a stock location. the drivers side bank collects under the oil pan and the passenger side collects under the passenger side floor board so you could run a dual system WITH LONGTUBES (primaries are 28" long) in the STOCK LOCATION!

here is an eBay ad with them uncoated:
http://www.rpmcat.com/images/H26-2138a.jpg

and just so you know, they ARE still available through hooker as per this page from Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030 this is the coated version, though i'm sure that they could still be had in a painted version.
Hooker Super Competition Headers: HOK-2138-1HKR - summitracing.com

now, with the small 1.5" primary and 2.5" collector, but the 28" long primary tube...would these headers be worth it for someone to try to use? these wouldn't be used on say my race car, but how bout for a moderate 350 in a street car...say something that is putting out a SOLID 300HP...i'm wanting to build a car that handles really well, so it would be lowered, like on some hotckis springs or something. and would be a good daily driver, but i just can't give up the sound of true duals...

hok-2138hkr does also come up on summitracing.com. $379.99. Picture shows typical LT routing, but you can't trust Summit photos.

The Holley site says they are 1.25" x 28"! No photo.

In my opinion, it wouldnt be worth it when u can get 375-400RWHP out of a shorty/dual cat setup.

Those are neat. The long 1.5" primaries would be great for torque

see, that's what i'm kinda thinking...would be great on a 350 tpi motor that never saw above 5K...it'd make gobs of torque (in therory)

I wonder what it is like working for hooker. I mean look at all there headers they offer for just about every car and it's not just thrown togeather junk like others build. they seem to take the time and they make odd ball stuff like these. they have to be one of the only buissness that still makes a good aftermarket for our thirdgens. seems like they thought of every header for a thirdgen bbc,sbc... shortys, long tubes everything but turbo headers

my neighbor is retired but used to work for hooker he said it was lots of fun and he learned lots of cool tricks, definitely a company he could vouch for he says.

Im running 2138's right now

I like them for the most part

Only shop that would attempt to make a y-pipe didnt tuck it close enuff in so the pass wheel slightly rubs when you turn almost all the way right

The oil pan clearance is 1/4 to 3/8 so I modified and bent the drivers collector more downward

Ground clearance is great

True duals? If you can figure out a way i wanna know, Ill show a pic if you like

Fitment- They were VERY tight but never toched anywhere. If your cars ever been in an accident, you will most likely have to modify something. My modification was voluntatry

Plug acess- Youll need header plugs but they are very reachable, #8 must be from the underside of the car

You will need to relocate your knock sensor to the drivers side of the block

Took my caliper to them before I installed them and yes they are indeed 1 1/2 Primaries into 2 1/2 collectors and they do not have O2 bungs, you'll have to put the sensors somewhere down the Y-pipe

Sound- Open headers at cold idle sound great, warm idle, its quieter than stock with full exhaust
WOT sounds badass
Highway on the other hand has an annoying drone/buzz kinda like a VERY loud and deep import car

Performance- open you wont notice any gains aside from sound
I have a y into a "Highflow cat" glasspack then dump before rear axle
Youll feel a small difference, kinda peppy but nothing major

Other things, the kit comes with the small spacers to hold your Alt, AC, and Oil stick in stock locations
You will have to unbolt both motor mounts
You will have to drop the starter
You CAN use stock starter
You do NOT have to notch frame, or dent any tubes, fitment was great
Bear in mind these are 2 piece headers
You have to install them from below
Pass side is not as hard as everyone bitches about, even the rear bolts were easy to access
Mine do not have the AIR fittings or coating and are holding up great

Hope this helps

No the pass side collector is NOT under the floorboard, its immediately behind the pass wheel in the lil valley, pic prolly show it better
You will see if from outside of the car

Drivers collector dumps at the pass edge of the oilpan
