Hey everyone, I'm looking to get my exhaust figured out now that I have my engine ready to drop in. What I have so far are Hedman shorties #68470 and matching y-pipe 17470.

I'm looking to put either a Hooker or Flowmaster 3" cat-back on it, but I'm unsure of what cat to use. I'd like to have something that will bolt to the y-pipe and i-pipe with little to no modification. Will the Catco 9118 or Magnaflow 93441 work? Are there any universal cats that will work?

EDIT: I haven't decided if I'm going to use Alston or JEGs sfc's, so this needs to fit both if possible.

I used the magnaflow 93441 in my setup but i had a custom y pipe so i had to weld the cat to the y-pipe. I have a 3" hooker catback and hooker shorties. It bolted to the catback just fine. Hooker 16823 catback

So does anyone know for sure if the Magnaflow 93441 will bolt to the Hedman y-pipe?

i dont think that will work i also have that y-pipe and am lookin for a cat. Thats Magnaflow is 3" in and 3" out. That Hedman y-pipe it 2.5" so you therefore need something that is 2.5" in and 3.0" out.

nothing will "bolt" to that y-pipe, it has no flange at the end.

I was pretty sure it ended in 3", but had an adapter to go to 2.5" if you wanted.

the y-pipe interfered with my hotchkiss subframes, so I chopped the y-pipe at the Y itself, and had a shop weld in a 3" pipe with a bend, then more 3" pipe, then connect to the my exhaust under the rear seats type of area. No cat for me.

you'll also want to bolt the y-pipe to the headers, then weld the slip fit under the oil pan.
I don't think you'll be able to have the headers on the motor while you lower the motor into the bay, no room. I think I left the passenger side ones on, but had to remove the drivers. To put the drivers side on I had to remove the steering intermediate shaft. It's actually quite easy, and totally simplifies the job. Maybe you can put the headers on the motor, remove that shaft and lower the whole deal into the bay. Boy that'd make it easy!

I have those headers and that Y-pipe, and I ordered the catco 9118, but I had the Y-pipe modified so it would flow 3" into the cat, and then 3" the rest of the way.

Your best bet is to have the y-pipe modified, makes things much easier, and it gives ya the 3" all the way back.

If you need any help or suggestions with the headers, PM me, I just got done putting them in my car about 10 mins ago. I didnt have to remove the shaft on the drivers side, I was able to make them squeeze with out scratching the Jet Hot Coating too
