Who has their double hump cross members made?

I figure this is the board for it since you really only need to make one if you plan on running true duals using longtube headers and want as much clearance as possiable..... mine is almost done, I have to drill one final hole trim down the extra metal and then make up my mind if I should even bother with adding extra metal to my 1/4" thick mount.

so post some pictures and get a good collection going in this thread. and maybe I can get some one to post mine too!

I'll be cutting the 4" square tubing (3/16th) tommorow for mine....I'm using it to moddify the stock one and them I'm thinking about using it as a template to build one out of 3/16th flat stock / 3/4" tubing. It should be done by next weekend unless work gets to crazy.

maybe this will get the ball rolling!

I could have allowed for taller humps but as it is I gained well over 2 1/2" over the stock one. and looking at how I ran my pipes and the original mount this looks like it would work on the 700r4 as well. now I just need to order the J bends and make the pipes.

yep, everything clears great! it is offset toward the passanger side of the car. so it fits just like it came with the car.

I still have not decided on the extra metal. I may throw some triangular chunks at the joints. or add a lip at the front and rear like the original one has. (I guess it depends on how board I am when I pull out the welder again) but then again it is very strong right now

After seeing your's I have changed my mind.....I am building one using the 4" square tubing that I have as opposed to modifying one.I'm using some 3" angle for the ends to bolt to the body and cutting some flat pices out of the tube and usind two 4" pices for the "humps" and the passenger side will open all the way to the frame so I can run a smaller bend from my passenger side header. Thanks for the insperation!!!!!

cool, I just wish some of the others would post because I know I have seen some real good ones but they are hard to find and many of the photos are no longer in the posts.

The only ones I have seen on here have been from t56 and LS1 swaps.I was alos thinking about doing a torque arm relocation mount onto the crossmember I'm sure the 3/16 can handle it hahaha!

It only got to see about 1500mi of (moderate/hard) use. No signs of any problems.

The cost was a 4' bar of flat stock and roughly 4 hours of my time. Cheap, simple and effective.
