converted 2 1/4in SLP collector to 3in

Well, I have had these sitting in my garage for a while, wondering how they might work with my 383 buildup, the answer was not at all, especially when it necks down to 2 1/4 inches or less at the collector, so I was just going to get longtubes.. but looking at the board I figured why not get some Jegs stainless collectors and have my local weld shop weld them on and see how they work.. 70 bucks later, viola! 3inch collectors on the 1 3/4 inch shorty..Thought I would share this, they will go 3inches back to a 4inch mufflex after test fitting and the black jet-hot treatment.

thx,
Hopefully they don't pinch the horsepower too much now, I don't mind a bit of horsepower/torque lost down low so long as I can keep most of it up top.. we'll see when it all hits the dyno.

Seeing as this post was revived I will state that is one of the problems with the SLP headers. The collector is too small and the steering clearance is minimal at best. Thats why I went with the custom 1 3/4" header by Dyno Don. Not that the other headers are any better. IMHO the Edelbrock is low on my list.

Thats a good point, I know there is problems with the driver side header and the steering shaft, does the shaft rub against a pipe or the collector?
