if ur planning on getting some mufflers, you should check into magnaflow round race muffler. I've heard these in person and they sound awesome. not too loud and not to dormant. MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust

Not too sure. Are they called race because you can see right through them? or cuz they have great flow? I don't really want either thing. The car has enough power, I just wanna be able to talk in it. I would rather have a nice street muffler. I will have to comprise a list of all the best ones and slowly go crossing them off before I buy. But that is a thread for another day...

Firebird 383... Yes they are from car chemistry. They def did quiet it down. Not a HUGE amount but you can most def tell there is something in there trying to. They will probably have a bigger effect when the car gets the timing set. I added a Mallory 6AL box and that made it a lot quieter, so I cna only imagine what further tunning will quiet it down. I bet the inserts will have more effect then. Just sort of like adding headers is much more benefitial when you add heads at the same time.

Well there are a couple reasons.

1. Y-PIPE + Sphoon X-memeber + greater than 4" ground clearance = not gonna happen.

2. Even if I did buy a Y pipe made for LT's like the mufflex one there is no way in all hell I can mount a stock style muffler. The location where that was is being used up by my holly volumax pump, 2 fram can filters, N20 feed line, fuel lines, and 2 return lines (one from the pump and the other from the regualtor).

In a nut shell, "normal" aftermarket stuff is just not gonna fly here.

It purrs quieter than a kitten.... hehe. But no, in all seriouslness it is very very quiet. I am not sure if you have seen my pics of where I put it, but I have it mounted right under the fuel tank area. When I am in the car, I can hear the fuel flowing through the pipes more than I can hear the pump. My electric fan is far louder. And that is not loud at all. Just to see how loud it is, I sat under the car at the back of it. It sounds sorta like if you tried humming, the sound you hear in your head, is sotra how the pump sounds. lol. Very strange comparison, I know. But it is true, you get what you pay for, the pump is like $250 or something like that, but it is great, you honestly just can't hear it at all.

I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Not to mention it flows like no other, has dual feeds, a return and is 100% rebuildable. Looks pretty sharp too.

Well hope that gives you an idea of what they are like.

sounds like i'll put that on my winter wish list because this holley blue rattles the whole side of the car with a loud buzzing sound and bothers me immensely. Price isn't bad considering what I already have in the car for everything else Which model number pump are you running? I couldn't tell from your cardomain site.

I am running the lesser flowing one.

Holley Volumax Electric Fuel Pumps: HLY-12-705-1 - summitracing.com

If that didn't work, HLY-12-705-1.

Flows a solid 160 GPH. The 250 GPH one has so many warnings not to run it on the street it was crazy. It is pretty much just for drag use. If that is what your car is and you need the flow, then there ya go. For me, my 500HP 385 and slight N20 use only needs the 160GPH.

Hope you like yours as much as I like mine.

alright i'll order that up at the end of the season since for now i can live with the other pump noise and just blew $600 on a new carb for the motor anyways. Once I put on my turbo mufflers I have a feeling that the pump I have now will get annoying fast when it is louder than the exhaust.

yeah, I can see that being an issue.

On another note. I got my timing dialed in, at least roughly. So now the car is much quieter, but by no means quiet. I LOVE the sound and will get a sound clip up tonight maybe. I still need to swap the mufflers, but that can wait till I am bored and snowed in.

Guys with bigger cams: How cold can you run those motors till? It is starting to get down here, like today was 65 and tonight will be 40. But there are still days that should get to 70. I am just wondering when I should stop trying to play with the car??? When is it too cold? I don't wanna hurt anything.

Does anyone think that an H pipe would really do a whole lot to quiet it down? It eould be a HUGE pain to make, but if it is worth it, I will start trying to make one.

Later

-Dennis

i stop playing with mine at the mid-50s area. My h-pipe smoothed out the idle crackle from the cam, and was only $30 I believe from jegs for the jegs brand which came in a flowmaster box.

Air_Adam.... really? All year round? It was like 50 yesterday and it was hard to get it to stay on. Granted it is not FULLY tunned yet and it is a pretty big 750 DP Holly. I allways figured if you run a pretty big cam, that there is no way you can drive it in the winter, with no E.F.I.

Lemme know how you do it? Also what kinda power does your car make?

ON A TOTALLY DIFFERENT NOTE---------------------------------------

I put a video of my car up on u tube. It should be up there now. just search dennisbernal91z.

I will see if I can link it to here.

nope. I can't even get to utube from my work PC. DAMN. Well can someone else try? Thanks

today I might get a clip of me getting out with the doors going up and the tires rolling at least. I kinda wanna see what they look like.

Later on I am def gonna make a clip of me driving away now that I know how to make videos. Maybe someday, when i use the N20 I can get the nose up a bit....

But yeah, she is gonna be artic white, no locks, no emblems. Just a couple ones that say Z28. And also no door protectors, oh and no gas door or antenna.
