Header/Exhaust Questions.

Hi everyone, Just looking for a little help on picking some parts.
I know you all have probably heard this 5,000 times but try to bare with me lol

I just purchased a 1988 Trans Am, and I wanted to upgrade the headers and exhaust,I found the FlowMaster "American Thunder Exhaust System" and fell in love with it, Now im just looking for a pair of headers that will bolt on to a stock engine and the Flowmaster system and anything I may need between the two.

Im pretty confused when it comes to "Y pipes", "Straight Pipes" and all that good stuff. I just want to know whats the best headers to put on the stock engine and if they will fit the Flowmaster, & if they are street legal.

Thanks in advance!
-Brian

BTW, my engine is a stock 5.0 V8

I think it's more like 6000 times, but. . .

Regardless of whether your car is an LO3 with TBI or an LB9 with TPI, what you want to get is headers and exhaust for the TPI application. Very typical is Hooker 2055HKR headers, which include the y-pipe, and Catco 9118 cat - those two will hook right up to each other without modification. Then get your Am-Thunder exhaust for the '86-'90 TPI single-cat application, and you'll be set to go.

You may have to modify some A.I.R. routing and make some minor hanger modifications, but that really is one of the best and easiest setups that you can get.
