Exhaust Manifold Question!!
Guys,
I have a leak from the exhaust manifold (sounds like a volkswagon at the moment), and are about to replace the gasket on the drivers side (RHD down here in Australia).
I have half the bolts out except for the rear bolt and one of the middle studs.
Should i crack the seal on the downpipe flange in order to slip the gasket on, or should it flex enough (i do have the steering shaft on this side tho) to fit ok?
Thanks heaps, i know it's not the most exciting thread ever, lol.

there's no gasket on factory manifolds?? are you sure about that?
I honestly can't remember when I did mine, but, I was sure there was....
Removing the steering shaft is easy, and makes life a lot easier for the manifold/header work.

and the lower part of the shaft will telescope down. That might make it easier to get at your exhaust manifold bolts.

Alicat.

Thanks Guys,
False alarm after all that. I was getting under there to do it, and i noticed a brass plug had fallen out from the manifold (where the EGR has been disconnected by the previous owner) and wedged itself between the frame and a length of hard line.
