new headers and bad sound

I just installed a set of pacesetters in my v6 but the sound is worse. Before headers I had a stock cat back with a 80 series flowmaster and the sound was sorta deep for a 6 but sounded good. Now with headers in, my car sounds horrible. It sounds like I have cut-outs, my car sounds very very raspy. Not to mention I lost a lot of low end power. I there anything I can do about the sound? Will a resonator help, or should I get a quieter muffler?

If it's too loud you can try adding a resonator in the exhaust somewhere. Or just get a quieter muffler.

The feeling of less low end torque is because you moved the power band up by freeing up your exhaust. It's normal.

Which resonator would work best?

Dynomax bullet probably. $35 bucks from summit.

Yeah, I just put headers on my new 3.4. I like the sound for the first few grand if I'm not really getting on it, Otherwise, it gets too loud around 3k. I might eventually go to a quieter or 2 1/4 inch muffler someday. 2.5 inch dynomax right now.

Not sure about power because I'm running rich and the injectors are bad, so on and so on.

OK I've read that a bullet can act as a resonator so I'll give it a try. Would installing a high flow cat help or hurt the sound, and what effect would it have on pa state emissions?

Getting a bullet muffler and having that welded into the I pipe is your best bet, next would be to buy a different muffler.
