How much louder with 3.5" exhaust

Current Setup: Long-tubes, dual 3" into single 3" off-road y-pipe, single 2.75" for about 4.5' then into a Flowmaster Super 40 series (3") dumped before the axle

New Setup: Same long-tubes, same off-road y-pipe, 3.5" pipe from there on back into a Hooker Aerochamber, 3.5" pipe over the axle and turned down near the bumper.

Not really happy with current setups sound (Flowmaster ) nor happy about the current setup's performance (Flowmaster ), but I am happy about the actual sound volume. It's not too quiet and not too loud, although there is far, far too much drone inside the cab (which is why I want to run the new setup over the axle).

I know that the bigger pipe should yield a louder exhaust note, and I know the Hooker muffler is louder at both idle and 2000rpms then the Flowmaster, but how much will running it over the axle affect sound levels?

I'm trying to achieve a good flowing system, that sounds good from outside, but has little drone inside.

I've always dumped my exhaust, so I'm sketchy about running it over the axle. I wanna be able to hear the cam talk...

I have the 3 1/2" Mufflex system on my car. I originally had the Hooker Aerochamber muffler on it. A little loud for my taste. Probably just right for most on this board.

Anyways swapped it out to the new Magnalflow 3 1/2" muffler. It is quite abit quieter. Now I'm a happy camper. In fact I was surprised that it would be that quiet because of the straight through design.

No, it is this one. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=1070

Some others in our club bought the muffler after hearing mine. Some of us like to go down the highway and listen to the radio or talk to someone without shouting. Hehehehe.

I'm sure it's pretty quiet at idle and cruise but opens up at WOT though right...

I'm just tired of this shitty flowmaster drone

You are correct. With the pedal to the metal it lets you know there is something under the hood. Heck I can cruise around with the window down with no annoying sounds. However like was stated with the pedal all the way down it let's you know it.
