A) What part of "bay area" are you from? If its California, then forget it, as you cannot legally put true duals and dual cats on a car that didnt come with them.
B) The topic of putting true duals on a thirdgen is posted on this board over a hundred times a week. Please search the forum and read the other posts, and you will learn the answers to your questions.

then how do people in california get away with it anyway?

NJ is almost as bad but I know you can put on true duals as long as you run them through cats
I m from NJ

If your car is an 89-92 that came with dual cats, you can run true duals as the smog test doesnt care what you do after the cats.

Well if the car is older like mine which is an 84 yea you will need to redo the whole exhaust system. Just one question how do you go past the rear axle (over or under)

I'm not sure if true duals is possible with the 700R4. There isn't enough room around the transmission cross-member. I went underneath mine and it definately decreases ground clearance. I went from Hedman Long Tubes into a 3" single but the clearance around the crossmember is a problem with the automatic tranny....... I've got pics out there (Do a search...) Good luck

well first of all i probaly will do cats to stay legal even though its still illegal, i have a custom Y pipe that collects after the tranny but yes that was a hassle to get around it thats why i had to have it custom. i'm thinking of just doing an x pipe and i don't want to exit the exhaust out the back because i don't know of any tips that look good on my T/A and its an 85 by the way. i just like the sound of dumped exhaust but it might be to much work to fix and its already sounding great. iv been saving up for a while i think ima just try and get a c5 vette then i'll have TDs

i got true duals with headman longtubes, 3inch dual that goes over crossmember and dumps with flowtech afterburners 3", ground clearance sucks especially that i am now dropping it with sportlines so im gona have to notch the frame lol (the things i will do to keep the true duals) i love ittttt and i would have it no other way, its def a cheaper alternative than upgrading the stock stuff, headers cost me 130" new, to peices of custom bent 3 inch cost roughly 40$ and one piece of 3 inch straight pipe 20$ and 3 afterburner mufflers at 35$ apiece...total prob less than a good catback. its gona cost me roughly 125$ more to get all the stuff including all mandrel bend tubing and performance X-pipe for the new exhaust, and of course some notching and welding of the frame. i def recomend TD's
