A.I.R. is Air Injection Reaction, it's a system to blow fresh air into the exhaust to reduce tailpipe emissions.

thanx bud that helps...just one last question does that help with horsepower at all or is that just strictly to pass emissions?
If you want to get some better "close-up" shots of those SLP's - follow the link in my signature that says "SLP headers"
It'll take you to a thread I posted where I snapped off a few photo's of the headers when they arrived at my door. Further into the thread, you'll also find some pictures I took once the headers were installed.
I purchased mine not too long ago but I ordered mine without provisions for air since I don't have to worry about emissions.
In my opinion, they're the best quality headers available for our cars.
Hope this helps.

I got them over at LMPerformance when they had a sale on them. I think I paid $600 or somewhere in that area. I haven't seen them go on sale again there (or anywhere else) since then.
You should check out TPI parts:

They're one of our sponsors and carry both versions of the SLP's headers (air/non air) for $699. It's still cheaper than in most other place's I've seen which typically go for $720-$750.
As I said in my SLP thread when I reviewed them originally, driving around town, I really couldn't tell much of a difference. I was a little concerned about possibly losing some low end torque with the 1 3/4" primaries of these headers, because my L98 was still pretty much stock at the time, but fortunately, there was no loss in torque what so ever down low.
It was only after I took the car out on the highway that I really felt a difference. There was so much more "passing power" whenever I'd hit the gas to overtake someone. From 3500 and up, is where you really see just how much of an improvement these headers provide over the stock manifolds. It really did feel like a completely different car.
Basically, from 3500rpm and above, the car pulled a whole lot harder all the way to red-line. Even noticed an average 1mpg decrease in fuel consumption. More power and better fuel economy. Can't really complain.
Let us know what route you decide to take.
By the way, the ceramic coating still looks like it did when it came out of the box, 6 moth's later (and I drive this car every single day)
