How Hard is it?
How hard is it to replace the muffler in a firebird and when is it time to do so? It is a dual exhaust muffler so I don't really know this part of the car.
and how do you do it are any special tools needed?
Thank Auto Brothers

Re: How Hard is it?
Usually when there are holes in the muffler is it time to replace it, pretty common sence. If you are replacing just the muffler there are a couple options, you can either make the muffler slip fit over the existing pipes and clamp them with clamps or have them welded together which is usually the best way but if you have no access to a welder then clamps would be fine. Usually when the muffler goes bad though the pipes are bad themselves or are on the verge so I would just recommend getting a whole new exhaust kit with new pipes and mufflers. If your doing it yourself the only tools you should need are a hacksaw, socket wrench for the clamps (if you choose this route), some dish soap for the hangers and most importantly a 6 pack. I think this should answer your question....??
