Name the Cause of the sound

When I drive and go over some bumps i hear like a low screeching sound coming from the exahust area and I was wondering what it could be so I can get it fixed ASAP

Re: Name the Cause of the sound

The exhaust area.........that starts at the front of the car and end at the rear bumper. Can you be more specific? If I was a betting man I would look where the over axle goes over the rear end. There is some tin shielding on the floor that can sometimes hit the hanger for the rear pipe where it goes over the axle. If these two pieces are rubbing it can cause a screeching sound.

Nope....right where the rear exhaust pipe goes overtop of the rear axle. There is a tin shield bolted to the floor to keep exhaust heat away from the floor. The hanger welded to your over the axle, if it isn't pushed through the rubber part enough, can rub on this tin shield....sounds kinda like finger nails on the chalkboard!
