Just Ordered my Exhaust, Need Help Though!
I just ordered my exhaust today:
-3 inch direct fit Magnaflow Cat
-3 inch dynomax intermediate pipes meant for a thirdgen
-Magnaflow Muffler (the one used in the LT1 catback)
-Dynomax Turndown Tailpipes
The problem is, how the hell am i gonna get the 3" cat to fit to my y-pipe (which i believe is 2 1/4"). I looked for slip on/cone reducers on summit and jegs but there isnt ANY reducer that goes from 3 down to 2 1/4. It seems that if summit or jegs doesnt carry that kind of reducer, it doesnt exist. When i take all of this to the exhaust shop, how is he gonna get that to work? Any suggestions? I just want to know that all they're somehow gonna be able to link the cat to the y-pipe successfully without charging me a ton of money or doing a crappy job.

yea a few companies make a 3" to 2 1/2" but isn't my y-pipe 2 1/4? How would getting a 2 1/2 help me? Could the exhaust shop make it work?
Re: Just Ordered my Exhaust, Need Help Though!
getting a 3" cat-back does you absolutely no good if the rest of the exhaust is stock.
and what he was getting at, I believe, is if you had a 3"/2-1/2" cat, you could get a 2-1/4" to 2-1/2" reducer and your problem is solved.
sure they could make it work, by building you a new y-pipe. or string together a bunch of reducers and half-*** it

Yes, he needs headers and a bigger y pipe for a full advantage but he will definently gain some ponies / nice sound / looks so there is point in my opinion.
Id buy a 2 1/2" to 3" reducer, a decent exhaust shop can weld the 1/4" difference. Thats probably why they dont make them cause under a 1/4" you can just add extra weld. Im guessing that not positive.
