Clean up heat shield?
Just wondering what you guys are doing to clean up your exhaust heat shields? I wiped it down best I could, but its still a big eyesore compared to my freshly painted underside. Aside from replacing, what options do I have?
Heres a pic showing how bad it looks.

Re: Clean up heat shield?
I hit them with some wet sandpaper to clean off the surface rust and let dry. I then painted them with a high-temp spray paint. The color was a aluminum or grey, I believe Dupli-color. They came out looking almost like the original galvanized color. A sort of dull and not shiny look, but contrasted nicely with the new exhaust and muffler. When I get home tomorrow,i'll shoot you a pic.

My pic was over the limit for this forumn. Too many mb's. I took it when I was doing the rearend and muffler replacement. Now with everything installed, I cannot get a decent shot of it. Sorry

Change it to JPG and scale it down, or host it somewhere like photobucket and link it over
Back on topic...
Most of the 3rd gens Ive scraped had pretty good heatshields because noone ever touched them
Id just leave your old and busted shields alone and pull some good ones to clean up off a JY car
