Five minutes after i start my car it smokes at 1st i thought it was the rear main seal. As i look further it looks like it could be the manifold. This guy says if its the manifold he would charge me 275.00 if its the rear main seal he would charge 575.00 what do u think about that price.. and also if its the rear main seal shouldnt i see oil on the ground?

rear main seal will usually dump oil into the bellhousing and end up dripping from the bottom of the plastic cover.

an exhaust manifold will not leak oil... unless something is very terribly wrong...


Where is it leaking/smoking from?

Im going to take a shot in the dark (the crystal ball is non operational tonight) and say you have leaky valvecover gaskets and they are dripping oil down onto the manifolds and burning up.

Keep in mind leaky valvecovers can also send oil down the back of the block and imitate a leaking RMS

To be honest i dont know where the leak is coming from its fdriving me crazy i just bought the car, funny thing though is when i bought the car i found in it the oil pressure switch but i dont know if thats it though because the smoke seems to be coming from the bottom and the oil i can see is on one of the pipes i am going to try some of the lucas stop leak stuff and see if that works
