Install Tips - Edelbrock Exhaust...

Sorry for any redundancy, but I was getting frustrated sifting through all the posts...

Would anyone care to summarize some cool install tips?

'86 TA, 305 TPI Auto... all new exhuast, Edelbrock TES, 3" collectors, 3" cat, 3" Edelbrock cat back...

I have resigned myself to lifting the driver's side engine. Did I read somewhere about a ground-down 15mm wrench? 12pt. 6pt or open end?

Is this a good time to replace engine mounts? I paid $130 ea at Quebeduax (tucson pontiac dealer). Then I priced some $5.00 mounts at a NAPA store. Some one please tell me that I'm smart!

Planning to dyno after install (plus a hypertech chip)... projecting 230hp? Tripping on acid?!

$130 EACH for engine mounts?? Please tell me that you have the sales receipt, and take those freaking things back. You can get a whole motor / transmission mount kit for under $100.

As far as tips for installing the system, you may need to jack up the motor to get the headers in there. When you do this, make SURE you take the cap off the distributor or you run the risk of breaking it against the firewall. If you are having trouble with stubborn rusted in bolts, douse them in PB blaster and try again after the liquid sets in. If you need to weld anything, assemble it underneath the car first to get it to fit right and tac a few welds on each seam, then take it down as one large piece and weld it up separate from the car. I find that when the exhaust system is dropped out from the car, it is easier to work with, as you can rotate it, flip it, etc, and it is easier to see, especially if you are outside in the daylight.
