Hooker 2055's on a 85Z?
Hooker 2055's on a 85Z?
Hey guys, im looking to upgrade my exhuast system. I see alot of positive feedback on the hooker 2055's, and really llike the looks of them. But it says 86' and up. I have a 85 Z28, and i need to know if they would work on my car? From what i gather its the cat thats diff., if i order a newer high flow cat for my car, would this header system work? And if so, what cat works pretty good for this system, keeping the AIR or whatever its called. Thanks for the help.

Yes, all headers made for thirdgen V8's will physically bolt up the engine, as Gen 1 small block chevy exhaust ports are all the same. Its the y-pipe where it bolts to the cat that is different, as you said. You just need to have your muffler shop make the connection from the y-pipe to your cat, a simple job. For aftermarket cats, I highly recommend Magnaflow. For a single cat system, you'd want to upgrade to the 3" cat, anyway.

Sounds great! I was just looking at the magnaflow ones, theres several to choose from, do i need the OBD Compliant, or the Non-OBD Cat? Its a LG4 Engine.

Here's the direct-fit system I run on my 85 IROC:
Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055). Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118). Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR). Recommended.

Very nice, ive never thought of trying a hooker cat back system, but i have to say it sounds great. I think ill take your advice and use that same setup
