rusty SLP headers

Anyone else have non coated SLPs that have been in the car for several years?
Mine are pretty rusty for being stainless. They must use a cheap low grade. It's not through rust, but surface rust. The cheap 45* the previous owner used that is NOT stainless, has less surface rust on it. Also the collars are VERY badly rusted.. I'm pretty sure when I go to remove the headers to replace my gaskets that I'm going to end up snapping the studs that hold the headers to the Y pipe. Those look rusted beyond usefulness.

Anyone else with these issues?

The proper technical designation for "stainless" is "CRES", for "Corrosion REsistent Steel". Doesn't mean it won't rust, just means it is more resistant to it.

There are a couple of reasons why the non-CRES piece isn't as rusty. Aluminized is one possibility. Heat is another.

(SLP started selling only ceramic coated headers a little while back. Hmmmm, wonder why. . . )
