Magnaflow Question

Ok so what is the deal with the magnaflow mufflers.
there doesent seem to be any different kinda besides round and not-round. its just "magnaflow muffler". theres also all these different measurements, do there determine how loud the muffler is, cuz i dont want somethin rediculously loud, i just want that magnaflow sound w/ my carb'd 350

( i was gonna go with a tpi but it was too much $$ and thats besides the point anyways)

so basically im just lookin for the low down on magnaflows

Re: Magnaflow Question

You can get the Camaro/Firebird replacement muffler that is 3" inlet and dual 2 1/2" outlet. Or you can buy their LT1 setup which include the larger 3" i-pipe and dual 2 1/2" tailpipes and have your exhaust guy make the connection from your cat to the i-pipe.

Re: Magnaflow Question

I don't know what size mine is, but a muffler shop did a real nice Magnaflow setup on my car, from the manifolds down with a header style y-pipe, hi flow cat, and 3" mandrel bent all the way, with I think 2.5" round chrome K&N tips. Sounds really cool, but all I know about the muffler is it's a crossflow for an F-body. I could not believe how much the exhaust system improved performance, plus it looks bad to the bone. Kind of a classic musclecar sound, hushed but rather melodious when you get on it. My .02.

Re: Magnaflow Question

This is what i used when i did my exhaust.sounds nice but not harsh or irritating, plus its polished. It's bigger than the stock one but still fits in the stock location.

Re: Magnaflow Question

I have a Texas Speed & Performance cat back, with a Magnaflow cat. The TSP has a bullet muffler, right behind the cat, instead of the normal crossflow muffler, behind the axle.

It's pretty mild at cruising speeds, and not loud at take off either. Everybody says they like it, but it's too mild for my taste. I like the Flowmaster 2 chamber, even if "everybody has it".

I don't have any way to record a sound clip, sorry.
