People w/ borla...

Hey everyone,
I purchased a borla cat-back from a member on here. I am a little confused on how the intermediate pipe goes together. It came in 3 18" long sections.

-3" on one end, 2.75" on the other
-3" on one end, 2.5" on the other
-3" on one end, 2.25" on the other

I get that the smaller ends go towards the cat, but how exactly do you seal a 3" end to a 2.5" end? Isnt it going to leak? Do I have to weld it? and if so, why did they give me a 2.5" & clamp?

Thanks,
Mark B

Re: People w/ borla...

When I bought mine new, it did not come with an I-pipe. Those three bits you mentioned are used to connect to whatever size I-pipe you already have. I picked up a new I-pipe at O'Reilly's, cut the length to fit. (cut a lot, more than I kept).

Re: People w/ borla...

The one we put in my friends 82 Trans Am came with the 3 pipes you are talking about, and they are used for connection to the size of cat you are using,

Oh, and I blocked mine off completely yesterday and it's waaaaaay to quiet. going to put the 50% plate in this weekend and see how it sounds.

I-Pipe bolts to the cat (if stock or stock replacement). Borla kit expects you to have a cat and I-pipe in place. I-pipe is not supplied with the "cat-back" system
