flexible exhaust piping
I was wondering what your opinions are on this. I plan on running a small boost application, maybe 6-9psi max turbo system. Would flexible exhaust piping work with this, such as inter cooler piping, and compressor exhaust piping. It would be so much easier to run flexible exhaust than have to weld all those pipes into tight squeezes, plus its very expensive and time consuming. I also have silicon couplers, and various steel couplers and reducers, and some good quality "muffler clamps". Just curious if anyone has used this flexible exhaust piping stuff. Here's an example of what I'm talking about.

Re: flexible exhaust piping
The interior wall not being real smooth, would impede the air flow, kinda like driving over a washboard surface. Now, as to whether or not it would impede it enough to make a big difference, I dunno.
But, I question as to whether or not, the "seams" could wistand boosted pressure, without leaking.

Re: flexible exhaust piping
I dont know, if it can handle 600+ degree heat rushing thru it, I dont see how boost could hurt it. What about if I was to use it just to connect the compressor exhaust outlet to my car's exhaust, would that work? I think it would help alot because im very limited on the space between the end of the headers, and the firewall, I need something that curves well...

Re: flexible exhaust piping
My biggest concern, would be if the "seams" of the flexible section, could contain the boost pressure, and not leak, allowing boost to get out.

Re: flexible exhaust piping
I guess thats true, If I run regular piping for the boosted part, and the flexible exhaust for the compressor exhaust part, would that work, thats my question...

Re: flexible exhaust piping
For the exhaust part, I don't see why not. The exit side shouldn't be super hot, except right near the compressor. Same as any standard exhaust.

Re: flexible exhaust piping
alright sounds like a plan, ill get some steel wraps to secure it in place against the headers and I should be all set, ill just have to fab up some pipes for the front, i forgot i need to weld in a blow off valve bung and im gonna run an exhaust cut out to transfer the 2 twins to go into a 1 inlet intercooler...
