Re: Need good flowing muffler
if you want a good flowing muffler, people recommend the Hooker Aerochamber. It wont be as loud or rough sounding as the flowmaster, but it is supposed to flow alot better. Well, if you have a 50 flowmaster now it wont be so loud anyway.
If you want to do a whole new catback exhaust system, hooker has the 3" catback with dual tips for about $300 on summit. Supposed to be nice.

Re: Need good flowing muffler
summit has the hooker muffler in two different configurations. They are both crossflow mufflers that sit transverse behinf the rear axle (just like the stock muffler). Most catbacks keep that configuration.
The one style uses a flange on the inlet (the hooker catback connects the I-pipe to the muffler using a 3-stud flange, like a cutout.
The one you probably want would have the slip-fit inlet. It is basically like any other muffler, as it has a short 3" pipe inlet, and 2 2.5" short pipe outlets. You would either need exhaust clamps to secure it, or have a welder.
If you read threads enough, you will find that alot of people say "crossflow mufflers flow bad." True, the flowmaster 80 per example flows better than stock, but still cant compare to something like a 40 series with the inlet and outlets on opposite ends. The one exception to this rule seems to be the hooker aerochamber. People rave about how well they flow. (Also they have a distinctive sound, though not excessive loud).
Here are the summit part #'s :
With flange - HOK-21729HKR
without flange - HOK-21720HKR
