manifold bolts
hey guys... im putting my LB9 back together and my exhaust manifolds need to go back on. My bolts have some surface rust and look pretty crappy but the threads and heads of the bolts are fine.
Can i reuse these without having to worry they are going to break when i torque them down?
if not where can i get a replacements for the manifold bolts...
also my manifold to Ypipe studs broke and i lost the bolts too
where can i get those and what size are the studs and bolts

Re: manifold bolts
they are all 3/8" diameter
16 TPS
common stuff
get grade 5 ones(three marks on the bolt heads) avoid ones with no marks on them as they are the lowest grade and weakest, stock ones are grade 5
all hardware stores and farm stores and NAPA and so on carry grade 5 bolts and studs
easy as cake
and dirt cheap
i have buckets and bins full of good used stock and some new replacement 3/8" bolts from years of part outs and so on, billions of them, so i never have to buy any haha, hell i just took two 5 gallon buckets completely full of hardware to the shredder the other day i have so much, they were in my way!
if you buy brass nuts for the studs then they will be easy to remove next time BTW
auto parts stores have them
they cost more than steel though of course
watch the length of the intake bolts if they are too long then they can run into the pushrods
get ones the same length as stock
when you install them use plumbers pipe thread paste it will seal them from letting oil climb up them and puddle on the intake manifold
i use this stuff on my head bolts as well works awesome

You can get the manifold studs and brass nuts in the Help! section of the parts store.
