AIR delete headers....

I'm looking for a header/y-pipe combo for my '88 Iroc. I know everybody rants and raves about the hooker 2055's and their edelbrock counterparts, but I don't want the AIR tubes that go along with those. Personally I think it makes the engine bay look cluttered, and the cat's will get plenty hot after the engine has warmed up a bit.

Does anybody offer a combo that has 1 5/8 primaries, 2.5-3.0 collectors, O2 sensors with AIR delete? If not, what headers and y-pipe would work, if any?

I've searched all over, can't find a damn thing.

Re: AIR delete headers....

Hooker 2460's dont have AIR tubes, but you have to buy the y-pipe separately and its not as good as what comes with the 2055's.

Search for Dyno Don's headers and you'll see the 1 3/4" headers he makes and sells, with and without air tubes.

Lastly where are you located? In the United States a street vehicle is required by federal law to have all its stock emissions equipment hooked up and functioning. That includes the AIR tubes.

I'm located in New Mexico....they don't care about emissions that much out here.

What exactly do you mean by "they're not as good" when referring to the y-pipe? Does it have a smaller inlet or outlet diameter, or what?

Also, what did you do to get 321 rwhp?

Re: AIR delete headers....

I had the 2055 tubes removed and the holes welded up. Bit of high-temp paint and all is well.

Re: AIR delete headers....

As Kevin stated you can get Dyno Don's headers without the air tubes. He might well have a pair in stock. I will say they are very good headers and maybe the best shorties on the market.

Click the link in my sig (1991 Camaro Z28) to see my mod list.

Emissions are a federal thing, by the way. It doesnt matter what the state does or doesnt check.

Check this forum for posts about the 2460 headers and y-pipe.
