Not too sure about cali, but they might have a cut-off year on cars that have to pass smog.

Re: 305 to 350 emmissions stuff

You're in California. You need it all. Assuming of course, that you intend to license the car so that you can use it.

Doesn't matter what CID the motor is. The CFI 350s in Vettes had the same stuff.

Hacking stuff off will give no benefit anyway, toward making power. And on top of THAT, if you build it right, the hood will stay shut, and it won't even matter what's under there. Don't worry about it, just put it back like it belongs, and life will be good.

As the other guys said, you cannot eliminate the "smog crap" on a California car (or any other United States street car, by the way) because we have to pass the visual inspection. The emissions devices are required to stay put by Federal law. They really dont hurt anything, other than look ugly, but they help keep the air we breathe cleaner.

If you show up to our meeting Saturday, we'll show you all the SoCal cars we have that run 12 second ET's, get 25+ miles per gallon, and pass CA's smog test as clean as stock. Its not that difficult.
