HOOKER 2055's

im just a few clicks away from ordering these, but its weird becasue it says 86-90 applications...so whats the difference from 91-92? and why does it state that its for a "T.P.I. engines with single 3" inlet catalytic convertor only. Includes a high flow Y-Pipe." am i doing somethng wrong here? will it be ok to hook them up to mr 305 TBI? and what the F--K is worth the $350 difference from hi temp paint and ceramic? i know ceramic is good, but is it worth it that much?

Re: HOOKER 2055's

The y-pipe that comes with the 2055's exits in a single 3" slip fit. The only thirdgens that came with a 3" slip inlet catalytic, are the 86-90 tuned port cars. Our TBI motors have 2.25" small exhaust.

So the headers are good, but you will need to order a different cat, which is the Catco 9118 that summit sells.

Also, you will need a different cat-back exhaust system than stock. The catback exhaust system you get needs to have a 3" intermediate pipe, but the inlet, where it will bolt up to the catalytic, needs to be 3" ball and socket flange type.

The other option is to order the headers, the new catalytic, and then bring it to an exhaust shop to have them weld a 3" ball and socket flange on whatever exhaust you have now. But, unless you already have a nice aftermarket cat-back, stock size exhaust will choke your new headers.

Flowmaster and hooker both make nice exhaust kits that will work perfect with the 9118 catalytic.

Oh trust me im doing everything in order, but thanks for explaining it to me. yes the first thing i did was purchase a magnaflow 3in catback to open it up better and set me up for some headers...and now the $$$ is in the bank to do it. i paid 500 for the full cat back and the weld job and he told me to come back for a hi flow cat. but im gonna do the headers my self. BUT is the $350 difference for ceramic coated really worth it?? i can afford them but still....
