Potential Exhaust Set Up
Okay lets start with the current set up and a little information about the car. I have a 87 GTA LB9 with about 41k on it that is 100% stock. I'm looking to do a complete exhaust this summer. I'm going to keep all the emissions stuff on it because its the right thing to do and it all works correctly even though my state does no testing. I have no plans to swap the motor to a 5.7.
That been said I'm wondering what headers I should put on the car. Going to go with the new magnaflow catback,a magnaflow cat. The headers is were I'm needing help should I go with SLP 1 5/8, Hooker 2055, or I have read a lot of good things about Dyno Don's 1 3/4 headers.
I have found a website that says the have the SLP 1 5/8 headers in stock. Surprise to me since they were discontinued before the SLP 1 3/4 headers. The 2055 are easily attained from many different source. Dyno Don headers appear to be a made to order so there is wait time involved but that doesn't really matter to me.
All this being said are 1 3/4 header to much for a stock 305 or is bigger really better? I really don't have any plans right now to go away from the stock heads although they may get a little work this coming winter since they are in need of some valve guide seals.
Thanks
Jason

Re: Potential Exhaust Set Up
1 3/4 headers for a stock engine is over kill.you would get more out of a pair of 1 5/8.
