Excited

So I'm currently running hedman shorties and when I had my exhaust installed (it's a project car) I just had them throw on some pipes to the collectors with a knock off muffler ("flow-pro"). Now that I'm a little further with my project, I got a y-pipe quoted along with a top of the line flowmaster muffler. Any ideas on how this will sound/perform? (hedman, ypipe, flowmaster)

Re: Excited

flo-pro isnt a knock-off muffler. Its just not as well known as flowmaster.

Flo-pro probably makes more "performance oriented" mufflers than flowmaster. Its well known that the flowmasters are junk for HP and flow. They just sound nice.

Re: Excited

Well there is a $200 dollar difference between flo-pro and flowmaster... I would have to hope there is a performance gap.

Yea man id go with something else besides slo-masters. Unless you want to sound like every other v-8 out there.

Re: Excited

Would magnaflow be better? I've never heard of Flowmaster being so horrible lol, but I guess if multiple people claim the same thing, there must be some truth to it. I want something that will really compliment my headers... Any suggestions?

Re: Excited

I hear the SLP loudmouths for the forthgen bolt up with very minor fabrication. They flow well and sound pretty darn good.

Re: Excited

Flowmaster isnt that bad if you are looking for a nice tone, and a decent performance upgrade. They are still miles ahead of stock mufflers.

The reason that people say they are junk, is because flowmasters chamber + baffle design can never flow as good as a straight-thru packed design like a magnaflow.

If you want a good flowing muffler, try the hooker areochamber. They have a cheap catback, a unique sound, and are flow rated really good. Just a little quiet for my tastes.
