Pacesetter Longtubes???
I don't see any pacesetter longtubes for a 3rd gen camaro. Which part number longtube headers will fit my L03 305 TBI engine?
With that said, I want to get rid of my AIR system and still keep my EGR valve. Which pacesetter longtubes should I go for? Can I pull out the AIR system and still have the car run good and be reliable without a computer tune? I don't have any of the tuning software or equipment, so I am trying to make it easy. I read the stickies and know that the car will run leaner, but is that it, no other problems? How about the SES light? Will not having an AIR system keep a code generated?
Basically I want to put Pacesetter longtubes on, take out the AIR system and still have the EGR valve hooked up or re-routed if needed because there is no hookup on the headers, get help on what to do to take out the AIR system, and leave it at that.
Thanks,
- Justin

Gotta be Pacesetters, eh?
I've never heard anything good about Pacesetter headers for our cars, and like you said, no longtubes. So, why insist on Pacesetters?
Stick with the Hedmans.

Re: Pacesetter Longtubes???
Ok, well I don't need a y-pipe cause I am going with a true dual setup dumped at the rear axle. What is a good brand of headers that will easily fit my 89 IROC, and I can still hook up the EGR, AIR, and O2 stuff. Because it seems like I'll run into too many damn problems if I rip out the AIR system. People like the Hooker's 2055, I believe the number is, but it comes with a y-pipe, and I don't need one.
Thanks.

The only A.I.R. equipped headers are shorties. You could probably have them welded into long tubes.
The Hedman 1-5/8" primary long tubes are probably the easiest solution. You will have to have an O2 sensor bung welded into the collector. And A.I.R. tubes if you go that way.
EGR doesn't connect to the exhaust system. It uses the exhaust crossover passage on the intake side of the heads.
Hedman also makes dual cat shorties that have the A.I.R. and O2 sensor already. But, the down-pipes route to the stock cat location. Personally, I think that's the smartest thing to do for the sake of ground clearance (to say nothing about emissions legality), but if you're set on long tubes and dual dumps under the car (not legal in any state to the best of my knowledge), then the Hedman long tubes make the most sense.

Re: Pacesetter Longtubes???
I think I'll go with this setup, with the shorties and all. I've heard a lot good things about both Hooker and Hedman. I like the price of the Hookers better though.
I know dual dumps are not a legal setup, but I've talked to an exhaust shop who is an official NC inspection station and he said that he passes all kinds of exhausts, as long as they have the 2 oh so most important parts to an exhaust system, the cats and the mufflers.
But I'm going with the Hooker shorties, 2055HKR, they come with the y-pipe to fit, so it will make things easier down the road. Thanks for your help though in my quest to find the best of both worlds in emissions and performance exhaust.

Re: Pacesetter Longtubes???
I didnt wanna make a new thread so I thought I'd just ask my question on here, I have a 83 firebird and im swapping a 350 out of an 87 gta trans am for the stock 2.8 that was in the car.
My question is are these hedman lt's the same 1's summit offers for 150$? My 83 isnt going to need any emmissions bs since its exempt from emissions now that is considered an antique.
Thanks guys in advance.
