Re: CAT ELIMINATOR PIPE SUGGESTIONS

If your talking about a test pipe, search ebay. Theres a guy on there that sells them for all types of cars. Got mine for like 50 bucks. Theres no real hp gain but it does make the exhaust sound sweet.

Re: CAT ELIMINATOR PIPE SUGGESTIONS

You'd get the same benefit by removing your stock cat (yes, the stock 80's cats do suck) and replacing it with a high-flow aftermarket cat like from Magnaflow. Aftermarket cats do not suck. Not to mention you'd be doing us all a favor by being a responsible hot rodder.

Not many people sell direct-fit cat removal pipes because they are illegal in all 50 states.

Re: CAT ELIMINATOR PIPE SUGGESTIONS

Just buy a piece of exhaust pipe and weld it in place of the cat.
There are so many 3rd gens in my area that have no cat on them. Nobody cares. Michigan is one of the states with no emission laws.
For me, when I bought my camaro the cat had already been removed, so I will not be spending money on one.

Re: CAT ELIMINATOR PIPE SUGGESTIONS

Eventually all states are going to have emissions laws as this "global warming" crap gets spread. Some states that didnt use to have testing now do. If you already have the right stuff on your car you wont have to worry about it. Not to mention the more people post about removing their emissions devices, the more it gives our hobby a bad name and makes the lawmakers want to increase the penalties and fines. Nobody wants that.

Re: CAT ELIMINATOR PIPE SUGGESTIONS

if really want to take it out and still "look" legal, take the old cat on your car now and gut the inside so the cat is hollow.
Now you have a straight pipe =none restrictive=louder exhaust, but when or if any one looks under car they see a stock cat. When going for testing put on new cat.Best of all its just a simple swap in and out between the two.

getting an after market cat is a better choice.
