cherry bomb in place of cat?
i decided that im getting rid of my cat and am just gonna put a pipe in place of the cat but i had an idea and didn't know if it was a stupid idea or not. what if you were to take the cat off and run a glasspack or something in place of the cat and then just deleted the muffler under the gas tank and have the exhaust pipe straight out the back? i didn't know if i would loose power or something if i did this so i just wanted some opinions.

It's been done, it works, it doesn't sound half bad. Actually I see more single exhaust ran like this than anything else on these cars. I've personally used a glasspack on an import car where the previous owner had scrapped the cat, it takes the horrific cackle out of the thing and sounds stock that way.

Why do you want to remove your cat? Please be a responsible hot rodder instead and replace it with a higher flowing aftermarket cat, such as from Magnaflow. Cats are required to be on all street cars that came with them (that includes all thirdgens) in the United States. Its a federal law, regardless if your area does emissions tests or not.
