I have a Big Problem
Ok so hears my problem, has anybody run into this or know a different header to use? I have a 383 with procomp angle plug aluminum heads, i bought a set of long tube headman hedders (pn 68460) and the passenger side is fine but the front primary tube on the drivers side is hitting the 2nd spark plug from the front of the motor. even if i go to a shorty plug i will still burn up plug wires. Has anybody had this problem on procomp heads? Headman said when i called them that their hedders WOULDNT work on procomp heads
so im going to be looking for a header to fit mine (any brand short or long). I called procomp and they said any header that fits edelbrock heads will fit there’s if that helps anyone. Please help this is my only snag from firing up my new 383!

Id use shorty plugs. But should have searched on here. Im pretty sure Heddman longtubes have the worst fit on thirdgens.

Definitely try Accel shorty plugs (that's what I use), rather than buying new headers. They might be a close fit, but it's better than spending $500 dollars on a new set.

Re: I have a Big Problem
are the shorty plugs that much shorter? I have 90 degree wires that go over the valve covers
Re: I have a Big Problem
I had alot of clearance issues with my heddmans.. gonna agree that they are the worst for our cars... had to do alot of grinding on the drivers side... passenger side slid right in without takin the starter off... i was surprised... used 90 angle wires with bosch plugs... some were close.... i would use the shorty plugs with the angle wires and that shold do the trick

try a shorty plug, they are usually 3/8" shorter. If its still close, use a fiberglass boot protector sleeve to help the plug survive the heat.

Re: I have a Big Problem
I took the hedder to a local machine shop that makes custome hedders and they used a hooker J bend and re-welded the primary and it works perfect. i can use regular plugs now and not have to spend $60 on a set of shorty plugs. I also did get the fire boots.
