Help..trying to put last bolt back in the header

Hey guys. My car has edlebrock headers on it and the gasket blew between the engine and the header on the passenger side. I took the bolts out and got the gasket out but now i cant seem to get the last bolt in at the far back of the engine. Any tips? There is virtually no wiggle room to get my hand back there and thread it in. I had 5 out of the 6 bolts in but it wouldnt line up so i took them all back out as well as the gasket to just get that last bolt started. Ill try again later this week.

i would put the first and last bolts in first, just thread them in enough to hold the header on and then put the other bolts in. i wouldnt snug any of the bolts in until you have all of them in. Also i found that a stubby type wrench is the only way to tighten thoes back bolts up.

Yea i found the only way to do it was with a stubby wrench as well. Its a matter of i cant seem to line up the last bolt..even with a friend helping. Ive been working on this on my free time for the past two weeks and its really aggravating me. To take the damn bolt out it took me over an hour.

nope. Not on either side as of now. I just tried to line up the last bolt for over an hour. No go. This is F'in stupid. Ive never been so pissed off about working on anything car related, and that is saying alot cause ive done tranny swaps that went smoother than this.

Re: Help..trying to put last bolt back in the header

Ok its taken me way too long to do this but all the bolts are finally in. The last bolt was the toughest though. We ended up taking all the bolts out so we could move the header around and then that back bolt slipped into place because my friend was able to fit both of his hands up to it from under the car. Still not sure how he did that but he did and its in. Now i just gotta tighten everything down and go for a leak free test drive (crossing fingers that its leak free after all that).

Re: Help..trying to put last bolt back in the header

Just took it for a drive tonight. Seems to be leak free so far. I hear some ticking but im pretty sure thats just the injectors. The Subframe connectors were hitting the exhaust but i had a shop clearance it for me. It ever so slightly rubs every now and again as far as i know. Much better than before.
