will this y-pipe work?

Hi,
Im intending to fabricate this y-pipe and use it wyh l69 manifolds. machined the flanges already skipping the efe-valve. The conical drivers side connection I made directly in the flange which is rather thick because of this. Do I use some special sort of gasket or o-ring in this connection?
Anyway I welded inverted reducers going from 2 1/4" at the manifold to 2 1/2" since 2 1/2" tubing is more available here. So I intend to connect this to an y-connection (which is by the way called trousers here in Sweden since thats what they look like...) which goes from double 2 1/2" to single 3". from there exhaust will be 3".
Please review my sketches and give me some input on this! Will I be able to make it fit under there? I dont actually have access to the car right now....
I dont mind sacrifying a bit of clearance, but not too much.

would be grateful for some constructive input but have no interest in the header manifold discussion snce this is the way its going.

regards
Hasse

Re: will this y-pipe work?

I'm not real sure if Hawks dosen't offer a Y pipe similar to the first design. I wouldn't see why you couldn't fit it. I think they are using 2 and 1/2 to 3 in system. I can't find a pic of it on their web site but in the last issue of Camaro Performers they had an exhaust that had a y pipe similar to it. The issue says Summer of 69 on the cover. Since I raised mine up by making the passenger side shorter I ran into Starter Clearence issues. I'm about a half in away (below) from my starter. Thats probably why they set them so low.

Good luck
