Header question

Ok I have a couple of questions.

I have a stock 87 350 tpi.

1. Can I hook up a 3" catback to a stock setup?

2. What kind of headers should I start out with? Short or long. I plan on modding my car quite a bit eventually. Would it hurt to start with lt headers 1 3/4 inch to 3" collector from the start?

Re: Header question

short tube's are easier to put on, and easier/cheaper to get a complete exhaust behind. I put long tubes on my car and have cussed at them every day! But i do love the way they sound and i personaly like to see the pipes hanging down below the car even tho i tense up every time they grind on a bump or bottom out. Also spend $400 on a custom exhaust 3" y pipe and 3.5 tips and that doesnt include the muff that i already had. if you just want a simple bolt on go with shorts if your gonna be doing alot of work to the car id go LT.

Re: Header question

That you would have to wait for someone to reply that has done a catback on one of these cars. You could probably go to a good muff. shop and they could give u some options.
