EGT install

Searched but didn't see much info on EGT installations. Do y'all drill and tap the exhaust manifolds before the Y pipe flange? Or weld a bung downstream in the Y pipe somewhere?

This is on an L05 motor with center dump, cast iron rams horn manifolds. The EGT probe uses 1/8 NPT fitting.

Thanks a lot.

Cant say for sure with a gasser but in diesel apps drill and tap the manifold, further down stream wont give correct readings. I would think the same concept applies.

Re: EGT install

OK that's what I thought. Sounds like standard procedure to install in exh. manifold.

Thanks.
