I've often wondered why headers aren't made that way more often, or in a Tri-Y, instead of 4-into-1.

They are Hedman Hedders #65170. They require the use of a remote-mount oil filter and a mini-starter, as well as a stock oil pan, so I passed on them. The collector design is less efficient by a tiny margin than the conventional style because the pulse reflection is somewhat weaker between the furthest two pipes, but this is of small consequence when your Hooker/Dougs long tubes bash on the ground every time you run over a dime in the street.
with those 1 7/8 primarys, you need at least a 383 with some pretty stout cam and compression to make those work, but in that combo or anything more rad, they would work very well.

Re: who makes these headers??? PIC!
cool man. thanks for the info. i can get them for cheap, didnt know if they were worth anything. looks like they are going to be more of a chore to bolt up.
ive got a 408 lsx going in and was looking for a larger set of primaries, but im going to pass.
in the end, im going to fab up a set of 1 7/8 to replace these hawks headers i have.
