what headers and full exhaust fit best?

i will be dropping a 383 stroker with first tpi in the 91 z28. I want to know which headers do you guys find to fit the best with the least hassle. Also the rest of the exhaust, should i go full dual or would a y pipe fit better? I want performance, but not at the cost of poor fit. I don't mind losing a couple of horses if the fit and sound are good. Also, do any headers come with o2 bungs already or do i have to get them welded in? What do you tpi guys run?

Re: what headers and full exhaust fit best?

I checked the stickies but i'm not clear on which headers fit best. I'm new to chevy and my only experience has been mopar. The only thing i see is that hooker long tubes make changing plugs difficult. I'm not concerned with performance, only fit. I figure any headers will improve hp. Again, sorry if this has been answered before.

For a 383 you're gonna want a set of Dyno Don's 1 3/4" shorties and y-pipe. You can search the Exhaust forum for "dyno don headers" and send him a PM for the details.

A single 3" or 3.5" exhaust will fit a lot better than true duals will.

Re: what headers and full exhaust fit best?

Your plug clearance will depend on the style of heads/ plug locations that you use. Almost all of the headers for our cars were designed for the stock plug locations, so with stock plug-location head are tough and upgraded heads become impossible. I agree with Kevin91Z, for the best fitting/best plug access headers for any heads and by far the best performing "shorties", go with Dyno Dons. All the long tubes have major fitment/frame clearance/ground clearance issues, and require a custom exhaust to connect it to. Don't go there unless you are a glutton for punishment.
