Good Sound?
Alright,
So i'm working on rebuilding my 90 RS with a 5.7 350. I'll be getting the rebuild done on the engine in the next month and I'm looking into exhaust systems right now for my set up. I won't be running a catalytic converter on her and am hoping to find a dual exhaust. Just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions. I want something that is gunna sound really good, nice a deep, but I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for it. I know that you get what you pay for but I don't want something thats really more than 500-600 bucks. I want good quality but like I said I'm looking into the sound of it. I don't want it TOO LOUD but I do want people to double take my way as I drive down the street. Any suggestions would be great!

Re: Good Sound?
You want true duals or just dual pipes coming off the muffler? Are you talking about just a cat-back? OR a full exhaust WITH new headers?

Re: Good Sound?
I threw an 80 series Flowmaster muffler with duals comin out and it sounds pretty tough...although i havent taken the cat off...thats my project for this weekend...
i think if you get on www.flowmastermufflers.com/ or somethin it will tell you the sound level(aggressive, deep, or mild) i think, and also they have some pretty tight sound clips. check it out it might help

Re: Good Sound?
I"m talking about doing a true dual exhaust but not with headers. I currently have headers in my car but they are, excuse my language, a b*tch with now. The one of the passenger side rubs on the frame (not sure if maybe they aren't the right headers or if maybe i have a bad engine mount) and my wires sit on the headers so I have to wrap what I can so that my wires don't melt. I already have a set of exhaust manifolds that I plan to put on there when I put the other engine in her. I just don't think it's worth messing with the headers when, to me, they don't add much horsepower and it just seems like too much of a hassle

Re: Good Sound?
Your exhaust system is only as good as your most restrictive point, so if you put manifolds back on you're really wasting your time with the rest. Headers are worth it if you have the rest of the exhaust done and you'll need them if you start making more power.

Re: Good Sound?
This is true but i'm not going to start hacking apart my car just because a I want a few more horses in her. Plus I don't want to waste my time having to tighten the bolts all the time and with the headers I have some of the bolts can't even be tightened because of where they sit... can't get anything in there cuz it's too tight. I know its probably better to have the headers on there but all four exhaust points on the headers end up running through only 1 line (one on each side with true duals) so it all gets jumbled up again at some point.
