Exhaust Pipe Size

Exhaust Pipe Size

Excuse this beginner question.

When people refer to the size (2.25”, 2.5” or 3”) of their exhaust pipes (Y-pipe, intermediate pipe, pipes leaving the muffler) are they referring to the outside diameter of the pipe?

I belive so. i have to get a pipe expanded to 3" ID to slip over my Y-pipe.

Yes, the OD of the pipe. Most programs for figuring exhaust size also figure in a .062" wall.
