Went to a test only center and the tech told me that he could not test my car as it had "illegal" exhaust headers. I told him that they are SLP 50 state headers with the A.I.R. tubes. They were right there in his face. And that if the manufacturer says they're legal, then they would have given me a plate or decal of some sort to put under the hood. Well he told me to go somewhere else.

So I went to another shop up the road and the tech there told me the last guy was an idiot. Btw, my car did pass. Barely on one thing; the HC (PPM). Max allowable is 110 at 15 mph and 85 at 25 mph. I got 101 at 15 mph and 85 at 25 mph. Talk about cutting it close.

Any of you out there had similar situations with the hydrocarbon readings and the legal headers?

 

probably more of an issue of your cat being shot than the headers
