2 questions
hi, its prolly been asked tons of time, but i didn't see it while searching. what would i be looking at for ground clearance with a set of Hedman Hedders Part number HED69080 from summit? they are longtubes, 1 3/4 inch primaries with a 3 inch collector.
came up with an idea for trul dual exhaust, just need some opinions, or if anyone has done it. I work with a guy that works in a sheet metal shop, and he said that he could make what i need. Here is my plan, for my true dual exhaust setup, i wanna put 2 "humps" in the floor that i can run the exhaust down the car in to maximize the ground clearance. Has anyone done this, or does anyone have a good idea as to where to put the "humps". I'm thinking about putting them right next to the door kickers, as it seems that they are already somewhat channeled out when looking from underneath, and i don't think that they would interfere with the seat mounts, but i could be wrong.
any help is appreaciated. thanks, ken

Re: 2 questions
You don't need to modify the floor for duals.

Re: 2 questions
those are truck headers, they will not work in a 3rd gen.
as for cutting the floor, these cars are uni-bodies, the floor is a structural part of the car, you had better be putting substantial metal back in of the cars chassis will be severely weakened.
Also, if you follow that route you will run into the rear control arm mounts.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the routing i was thinking, and you are right, straight into the mounts. that and it looks like i would have to really insulate between the pipes and the gas tank, and move my gas lines with the routing i was thinking of. i spent some time last night looking around on here of pics of people's dual exhaust. I think i'm going to run the pipes along the drive shaft like a bunch of other people have done.
I think that i'm just going to go to shorty headers. does anyone know of shorty headers that are at least 1 5/8 (would prefer 1 3/4) primarys that will fit? I'm swapping to a 383 that i'm going to be building, and my guesstamite is around 400 FWHP, so i want the bigger primarys and i will be running dual 3inch pipes.
now that i think about it, i'm going to run the pipes by the drive shaft, cause i will need the pipes right next to eachother on the back side of the diff so that i can fit in 2 good mufflers to get the sound down a little bit, don't want it too loud.

Re: 2 questions
hooker 2055's are the best 1 5/8 headers, and dyno dons headers are the best 1 3/4 headers, but have 2.5"? collectors. shorties of course.
Both however, are meant to use the stock stle y-pipe, not the easiest to use for duals.
Again, however, a good single 3" exhaust will support a lot of power.

Re: 2 questions
Depending on what you're trying to accomplish, I agree with 86TA; go with a larger diameter pipe then something as simple as an aftermarket cat-back system. If you keep the cat and shop wisely it will dull the roar. I have known folks to "over open" their system and there isn't enough backpressure. Bigger is not always better. However, if you only want it quiet so the Honda in the next lane doesn't know what you're packin', well then, headers and true duals might be your best bet.

just started looking around on summit, and on here some more.
I'm going with the Hedman 68460 long tube headers, 1 reducer with O2 bung, dropping it to 2.5 inch on both sides, into Flowtech Red Hots glass packs, into 12 inch long tips with the end turned down. all in all minus tax and shipping from summit its going to be a total of $234. Its going to be loud, but should give me enough back pressure to do the job.
going to weld the reducers back all together so i don't have to worry bout leaks using clamps, and i'm going to fab my own hangers. don't see the point of paying 5 buck less for a O2 bung and then having to do all the work myself when i can just get a reducer already done for me.

thanks for the help guys. will be putting the order in with summit once i get the money set aside for it, and will put pics and video up when i'm done. thanks guys
