Exhaust efficiency
I am looking at getting an exhaust set up (headers muffler) and I was trying to find an efficient set up for a dual side dump exhaust. The car isnt a 3rd gen but you guys seem to know everything so feel free moderator to move my post elsewhere. My question is this; Should I keep the exhaust pipes seperate (no y pipe or any other letter) and get 2 mufflers? Or should I get a y pipe then go with a single inlet/dual outlet muffler? 3" is what I was going with. Also a cat is not required on the car, although I am sure i'll put one on in the future. Which set is more efficient? Same? How about the sound? Any input would be apperciated thanks. Oh also how do I know what kind of gasket to get for the hearers? There are so many

re: Exhaust efficiency
an x pipe would be the best dual setup. Aside form that, without know what car its going in, thats all i can say. The underside of the car as well as the stock exhaust design will have a lot to with with what you can and cant fit.

re: Exhaust efficiency
Yesterday I pulled off the old muffler (it was clamped on) and I think i'll just keep it that way! Its loud, but not overly. Just sounds like a kickass muscle car. BTW its a 75 chevelle. The previous owner was a dumbass with the exhaust, he installed a cat (which is ok) and then a muffler that was too small and created too much backpressure. So I think what I'll do is get my headers, a higher flow cat, and have dual side dump exhaust with no muffler. I'll post a sound clip of what it currently sounds like if anyone interested
