Re: Headers?

Oh no, the most dreaded question. Search for "short long header" and you will have enough reading for a few days. What engine combo do you have now and what are you looking to do in future?

Our cars were pretty much designed for short style headers. You can put longtubes on but will have fitment and clearance probs. Plus long headers are not a "legal" replacement. Here are some pro's/cons.

Short headers- favs seem to be Hooker 2055 or Dyno Don's
pro-fit easily in stock position, good ground clearance, no fitment issues with spark plugs, can keep emissions equipment (AIR system), use with readily available aftermarket catback systems
con- will result in less hp/torque on high performance engines (450+ hp)

Long headers - hooker 2010?, hedman, Dougs longtubes
pro- maximize power for engine, have deeper exhaust sound
con- will most likely have fitment issues with spark plugs, low ground clearance, cannot use emission equipment, will have to fab up custom catback exhaust

Re: Headers?

have dyno dons headers on my car and still puts out 476 hp and 496 ft lbs of torque. The best would be a set of dyno dons shorty headers

Re: Headers?

(Assuming you've got a ThirdGen with a V8...)PM Dyno Don and never look back.

Re: Headers?

Long tubes are supposed ot make more power through the whole rev range. But I suggest you just go with shorties. You need a pretty unique setup to be able to get any kind of decent ground clearance with LT's.
