what starter to use?
what starter to use?
Im building my 90 formula, ive got a 400 sbc in it, with hooker 2210's, and a t5 behind it, my starter from my 305 fits physically, but since the 400 is a staggard bolt pattern and the 305 isnt, thats not gonna work, ive tried 2 styles of mini starters, the first style hit on the header and wouldnt turn to get it flush, the second on fit, except the solenoid houseing hit on my block. Anyone have any suggestions? starters the only thing holding me up....
Thanks,
Frank.

Jegs // Summit have minis with adjustable pinion positions for the 400 block.
They come with a block shim & a pinion shim if you should need them.
I used a TCI.

I got a mini starter that has the offset bolt pattern for my 400 from dbelectrical on e-bay. It is a brand new unit that was very reasonably priced, it was under 100.00, and it works perfectly with no shims for my motor. They include bolts and shims with the starter. Check them out, price is right and seems to be a good unit.

CVR make great starters. I have a denso type that will work with both size flywheels. Plus they are made in Canada and not overseas like most.
