Re: My new exhaust idea...

I'm not knocking your idea, it's just not my particular preference...

Here's what your idea would look like tucked (with cutting the bumper) and below the bumper (not cut), using the SLP 4thgen tips...

Actually I love the look of both but im just wondering which one to go with. That was my first concern to begin with should I cut or not. Thats the reson I started a thread on this idea I just wanted to now peoples openion's.

Dont get me wrong my first intensions where to have the exhaust made like yours in the beginning but using bullet mufflers though. But telling people from my crew they lead me to where I am right now. But still decideing.

Tony.

I just picked up this piece from Magnaflow
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-10798/

It has a great looking transition on the interior. I think it's 10" long
I'll take pics if you'd like

I dont know of any that you can buy, you'd have to fab something yourself but the flowmaster isnt bad reversed. It will sorta look like a TPI throttle body but you should add a airfoil so the exhaust easily can split. The key would be to keep cross sectional area increasing as it goes from single 3.5" to dual 3". Not all that hard to do but we are probably looking into it way too much. Reverse flowmaster y should be fine

I used 2 of them on my recent exhaust. one for the 3" into 4" y pipe, and then one for the 4" to dual 3" tail pipes. Seemed to work just fine.

Re: My new exhaust idea...

How about instead of photoshop, I'll supply you with a real pic of it done. This is my old 87' Iroc running 2 Dynomax Bullet mufflers.

The underneath pics were a mock-up but that's essentially what it looked like. I cut out my trunk area and welded a plate straight across the "humps" where the side panels run down to. I also didn't have a stock gas tank, I was running a fuel cell (which ended up under the car, the above pic was taken 2 days after I rushed to get it to a local 3rd gen meet) but you could get around the stock tank if you wanted. I loved the way mine sounded, wish I had an exhaust clip. I had also ran a true dual setup using a dual in/ dual out crossflow muffler:

Re: My new exhaust idea...

It looks complicated because I wanted to get as much ground clearance as possible so it followed the body alot. It honestly wasn't too hard to do and only took about an hour or so lol. Just looks worse in the pics.

Re: My new exhaust idea...

Hey RamAirZ,

That looks awsome! Are you still running this setup by any chance? Also do you have more pics where you had to cut the bumper up to as well.

As for mine I want to be running it down the stock route for the exhaust with the same mufflers like your's. How loud was it?

Thanks. Tony.

Re: My new exhaust idea...

I don't have the car anymore but the new owner still has it as far as I know. With the pipes exiting the rear like that, it wasn't too loud. It actually had a real nice tone to it under acceleration. I was surprised seenig as the mufflers I used and I had like NO insulation inside the car. I'll have to see if I have any more pics, I did that a few years ago. It was pretty simple to cut, but you WILL have to modify the trunk floor to have them tuck the way mine were.

Kinda like this, 3" y pipe into 4" over the axle into a flowmaster race muffler, using 2 mufflers will make it quieter
