Replacing Stock Muffler

I bought a replacement stock exhaust and cut part of the baffle out hoping to get a deeper sound. Did not work as well as I thought. Anyone have a suggestion on a deep throaty muffler for a 1983 305 5.0 Trans Am Crossfire Injected? I am looking for a muffler that will replace a stock muffler, 24 inches long etc.

Thanks

Re: Replacing Stock Muffler

I need a muffler that is exactly 24 inches long overall, The magnaflow has a one that fits perfectly, but I cant seem to find the correct one from flowmaster. I personally love flowmasters sound. I do not want a quiet muffler. Loud as i can get but without going straight pipes. Any idea on which Flowmaster fits?

Re: Replacing Stock Muffler

If you just want louder, thinking louder is better.....Just replace where the muffler was, with a piece of straight pipe. No more muffler = louder noise. But louder is not always better.

Since the flowmaster is only 18 inches long i can make up the difference with a piece of straight pipe? That way I can keep my alligned duel outlets?
